What causes the disease to develop?
As asbestos is exposed to someone and inhaled/ingested, the toxin enters their body and slowly becomes the disease mesothelioma as they’re stored inside organs and cavities in the body. Eventually, they separate and cause the area or membrane around them to thicken. Fluid buildup eventually occurs, and normal function is normally affected negatively.
Is there a cure?
No cure for mesothelioma is available at this point in time. However, there’s several different options of treatment available, and researches are constantly working towards finding a cure through clinical trials and other means.
What else is there to know about the disease?
Mesothelioma began to become largely known about and researched as early as the 1950s. This might not be a commonly known piece of information as the material asbestos wasn’t actually banned in most locations and avoided until around the late 1970s and early 1980s. People actually didn’t believe that the disease was serious for a while, until large-scale exposure to the material asbestos contributed to many people contracting the cancer.
